Rapid Rehousing Program

In partnership with the Bill Wilson Center, SJSU Cares offers the Rapid Rehousing Program to support students experiencing homelessness in securing and maintaining stable, permanent housing. Through a combination of case management and financial assistance, the program helps students transition into independent living while building long-term housing stability.

Program Support Includes:

  • Collaborative Case Management
    Ongoing support from SJSU Cares and community partners to help navigate housing, financial planning, and personal goals
  • Tiered Rental Support
    Financial assistance that gradually decreases over time as students increase their financial independence
  • Lease Independence
    Support in securing and maintaining a lease in the student’s name

Eligibility Requirements

  • Experiencing homelessness
  • Must meet with an SJSU Cares Case Manager
  • Enrolled in 6 units at SJSU for the duration of the program (Fall and Spring semesters only)
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA and is in good standing
  • Adhere to the no drug or alcohol policy
  • Acknowledge that the program support is a declining subsidy, with the student taking on greater portions of the rent as the time of the lease progresses, with the student paying 100% at the end of the term of the lease
  • Must be able to qualify for and sign a lease on their own
